Suggestion for the forum: Report Spam button on threads.

This isn't a very active forum, and that's okay. But that does mean that all the spamming drowns out the genuine discussion even worse than it would elsewhere.

So I think it would be good to have a button on discussions or posts to at least mark a post as spam.

(and maybe another mod to keep up with the flood if this would place too much strain on the current ones? Given that one of them is also the dev for the great game this forum is for)

Honestly, for now what we only can do is to ban such spammers from posting.

Other than that, I agree that there should be some kind of anti-spam mechanism.

True, banning and deleting topics is the only way right now.

On that note, and with the power newly bestowed on me by the mighty admin ... *wields banhammer*.

Thanks, Keripo. I'll try not to abuse it. And to keep up.

I've been trying to add support for other anti-spam forum registration checks (such as reCaptcha) but it doesnt seem to display properly in the new user registration page. I'm partially assuming this may be a forum skin issue...

I'm not knowledgeable about forum skinning/Captcha systems at all, unfortunately.

So far, I'm just deleting threads and banning users every so often.

I've never had to wait for a post to be approved before. The spammers don't either. I don't know why it happens for you.

Might also be a way to stop the spammers, though. Maybe. If there is a way of quickly affirming which people are genuine posters after they've made one or two proper posts or contributions to the discussion. Only thing is that that puts even more pressure on Keripo/the other mods.

I made half a dozen posts a few days ago, and every single one of them had to wait for moderator approval.

This one probably will too

Actually, this is a special case with you, since you were one of the first few to register on these forums. You were still under the "Newly registered users" group which I have since then removed.

Try posting again. It shouldn't have to wait for an approval.

On a side note, can't figure out why this forum skin doesn't allow for reCaptcha or other stuff... Anyone here familiar with forum administration or phpbb3 template editing?
